Sarah Maria Cook

When? w/c 12 August, Monday - Thursday, 9.30am - 11am

Where? RJC Dance

Sarah's classes combine dance techniques with explorational exercises, elements of rhythmic dance and body conditioning. The focus of the classes is on change and transformation over time, and repetition is therefore a big part of the classes. Sarah is interested in creating poetry through movement and how to use the body to experience time. Those concepts will be explored through a mix of set phrases and improvisation.

Sarah Maria Cook is a Leeds based dancer, she graduated in 2013 from Northern School of Contemporary dance. She has since worked as a freelance, as a performer and teacher. She was part of founding Gracefool Collective developing her skills in collaboration and dance-comedy-theatre. Sarah has worked with musicians from the Leeds College of Music and the Music Department at the University of Leeds, using improvisation and technology in dance. While working freelance, Sarah was part of setting up ProDance Leeds as well as teaching Pilates and dance in UK, Denmark and Germany. Sarah moved to Berlin in 2016 where she worked with Revolver Dance Theatre, and GAU Dance Company.
